1. Create your account

Visit https://sothebys.com/createaccount.

2. Complete basic profile information

Enter requested information, including your full legal name, and click ‘Sign up’.

3. Verify your email address 

Your account shows as "unverified". Check your inbox for a verification message to the email address you provided. Click ‘Confirm email’ to verify your email address.

4. Complete additional profile information

Once your email address has been verified, you can ‘Complete profile’ to get your account ready to bid, buy, and sell with Sotheby’s. Complete & review the requested profile information, and click ‘Continue’.

5. Upload your ID

Before transacting, you must provide valid government-issued photo identification and proof of address. Click ‘Upload ID’ to upload images from your computer or mobile phone or use the Sotheby’s mobile app. Once you have uploaded your identification, Sotheby’s will verify your ID and your profile information and inform you if we require anything more.

Please note some auctions and lots require additional financial verification such as a bank reference. A member of our team will contact you if this is necessary.

6. Add a payment method and review your shipping preferences 

You will be able to change these information later again from your profile page.

7. Register for a sale 

Go the the sale page and click "Register to bid" and select the account you would like to bid and pay with.

You are now successfully registered to bid on the sale
