What payment methods are accepted?

The fastest and most secure way to pay your invoices is online under My Account or through the Sotheby’s mobile app.

The bidder's name must match the name on the account invoice as well as the name on the payment method being used. This is a standard practice to ensure proper tracking and ownership of the items being sold.

To avoid fees, opt for our ACH/SEPA/BACS payment methods.

New York

Payment method	Limit & fee
US Bank Account / ACH	$1,000,000 per payment. No fee. ACH payments have a 5 business day clearance period.
Credit Cards	$200,000 per invoice. 3% surcharge. Applicable sales tax.
Debit Cards	Limits may apply from issuing bank. Applicable sales tax.
Wire Transfer in USD	No limit. No fee. Can only be selected as a payment method in My Account after the sale. Details provided during checkout.

London

Cards	£30,000 per invoice.
China UnionPay	Limits may apply from issuing bank.
